Are you suffering from these persistent symptoms?

  • Burning or foreign object sensation in the eyes.
  • Fluctuating vision, especially in front of a screen or while reading.
  • Chronic red eyes or swollen eyelids.
  • Excessive tearing (eyes that cry by themselves — a paradoxical sign of DGM).
  • Frustration: “I've tried everything (drops, warming masks) but nothing lasts.

If this sounds familiar, the problem is most likely not the lack of tears, but their quality. DGM occurs when the oil glands in your eyelids become blocked, causing tears to evaporate quickly. Ignored, DGM can lead to permanent gland loss (atrophy) and irreversible chronic dry eyes.

The source of your discomfort: at the heart of the Meibomian glands

Understand the meibomian gland dysfunction (DGM) is the first step in restoring the quality of your tears and regaining lasting eye comfort. Far from being an isolated problem, this condition is the number one cause of dry eyes and is closely linked to eyelid inflammation, such as blepharitis Or the ocular rosacea, which are often both the cause and the consequence.

There are several factors that can trigger or worsen MGD. THEage And the hormonal changes, especially menopause, play a major role. The extended wear of contact lenses can also interfere with gland function, just like taking certain medications, a known effect of post-Accutane dry eye. To the CARE Clinic, our advanced imaging diagnostic process (meibography) allows you to accurately assess the condition of your glands to target the true source of your discomfort.

FAQ
How long does the assessment appointment last?

Allow approximately 90 minutes for a full assessment. This time allows us to perform all the necessary tests without haste, and to discuss your results and your personalized treatment plan in detail.

What does advanced assessment at CARE consist of?

Our assessment is designed to accurately map your condition. It includes:

  • A detailed analysis of your symptoms and your lifestyle (screens, cosmetics).
  • Advanced tests to measure the quality, quantity and stability of your tears.
  • High-definition imaging of the meibomian glands (Meibography) to verify their structure.
  • A microscopic examination of the ocular surface, eyelids, and the presence of inflammation.
Is a report sent to my optometrist or attending physician?

Yes. We believe in a collaborative approach. After your evaluation or treatment, a complete clinical report is sent to your referring professional in order to ensure optimal continuity of care.

Are your services covered by the RAMQ?

No, our services are not covered by the RAMQ because we are a private clinic. However, we are committed to offering specialized and personalized care that complements the services covered by the RAMQ. We invite you to contact us to discuss treatment options and payment terms in order to find a solution that fits your needs.

I have already tried everything without success. How is the CARE Clinic different?

Our difference lies in our advanced diagnosis and our expertise (especially in complex cases such as neuropathic pain). Instead of simply managing symptoms with generic approaches, we identify the Exact cause of your dryness (e.g. chronic inflammation, blocked glands, Demodex, cosmetic factors). It is this precision that allows us to develop a targeted and much more effective treatment for lasting relief.

I use eye drops, but that's not enough. Why?

Artificial drops often offer temporary relief because they don't treat the underlying cause of dry eyes. Dry eye is a progressive condition. Over time, inflammation increases or glands atrophy, and a more targeted approach becomes necessary to break the disease cycle.
